A different take on today's speech in Los Angeles.By John Adriatico - Feb 21st, 2007 at 1:43 am EST Also listed in: Los Angeles for Obama '08! Grassroots Obama L.A.
When I heard that Barack was coming to Los Angeles, I was eager to attend, especially after seeing the principles of which he launched his Presidential campaign one week before.
It was both a surprise and an honor to hear that he was holding his speech at the Rancho Cienega Sports Center, in the same zip code, close to where I was raised and not far from where I currently reside.
Our neighborhood contains a diverse variety of people, and strong values of family, community and friendship.
It could be read anywhere about the large turnout and the overwhelmingly positive response, but let me tell you about what Barack's visit meant to our neighborhood.
In my 21 years of living here, Barack Obama was the first Presidential candidate to actively campaign here. When I was leaving, I saw many residents of our area with a look of pride and jubilance after the speech, due to Senator Obama's sincere outreach efforts.
It meant a lot to me and others for Barack to come and visit, and I believe that it shows his character for choosing to bring his compassion and optimism to us here in the Mid-City.
I certainly believe that Barack Obama will be a President to unite all of America.
THESE ARE THE STORIES THAT MAKE IT ALL WORTH IT!
